Hermès Scarf 90 cm – Cendrillon – Karin Swildens (1972) – Mint Green

VENDU

Issued one single time in 1972, the "Cendrillon" scarf (Cinderella) is the work of Karin Swildens, an artist who shook up the classic codes of Hermès with her graphic, almost childlike and resolutely psychedelic style.

Far from Disney's literal depictions, Swildens imagines here a dreamlike world where stylised birds carry Cinderella's medallion amid geometric plant motifs typical of "Flower Power" design. The ground is an incredible colour: a vibrant Mint Green, paired with olive and gold tones. It is a very modern, graphic piece, adored by collectors for its boldness.

A word from Diane
I am a fan of this green! It is a very specific 1970s "mint" shade that you no longer find today. Karin Swildens is a fascinating artist (she also designed the famous "Pâtisserie Française") who brings a touch of fantasy that is rare at Hermès. This scarf is not worn like an equestrian classic; it is worn like a cutting-edge fashion accessory, a little boho-chic. Tied in the hair or around the neck over a denim shirt, it is wildly modern.
