Created by Caty Latham, Les Oiseaux du Roy (The King’s Birds) was issued in 1994 and never reissued. This rare and much sought-after scarf pays tribute to one of the most aristocratic arts in European history: falconry, practised by kings and nobles.

Inspired by a 19th-century treatise on falconry and by the works of the animal painter Wolf, made for William III of the Netherlands, this scarf depicts cage-bearing valets and falcons with tethered feet, some wearing their hoods... A historical plunge into a codified, fascinating world.

Presented here in a rare pleated version, this scarf unfolds a warm, vibrant palette dominated by orange and coral, which underlines the richness of the drawing and heightens the visual intensity of the motif.

Condition: very good condition. Slightly “unpleated” at the centre of the scarf, visible in the second photograph. Hermès private sales S stamp. No box. Like any vintage piece, this scarf may retain discreet marks from its former life, which affect neither its charm nor its wearability.

With Les Oiseaux du Roy, Caty Latham pays tribute to the ancestral art of royal falconry. Every detail is inspired by historical sources: treatises, naturalist illustrations and period paintings.
