Hermès Scarf 90 cm – The Three Graces – Alice Shirley (2020)

Inspired by a trip to South Africa, the artist Alice Shirley reinterprets the mythological theme of the Three Graces through the majesty of African wildlife. Three blue giraffes unfold elegantly, their long necks forming a graceful, poetic composition on a vibrant red ground. Very rare and much loved by collectors. New condition, in its original folds, with its orange Hermès box.

A word from Diane
A "future classic" signed Alice Shirley, one of the most talented artists of the new Hermès generation. This red-ground version has absolute visual power. The contrast between the incandescent red and the cool blues of the giraffes' coats gives a spectacular effect once worn. A contemporary piece that is already iconic!

Extract from the little Hermès booklet, Spring-Summer 2020:
"It was during a trip to South Africa that Alice Shirley was lucky enough to glimpse a giraffe, then two, then three, hidden behind the acacia on which they were feasting.
Giraffes are the tallest animals on earth and their delicacy is infinite. Their movements are broad and elegant. They have a distant, panoramic vision and sleep little, often standing up.
They prune the trees as they feed, and scatter seeds as they move.
Their life is in perfect harmony with their surroundings.
The House of Hermès, mindful of the beauty and balance of nature, here pays tribute to these graceful and poetic giants."
